Yetonamr Pull String Teething Toy recall

Amazon Teething Toy Recalled After 32 Choking Incidents

A popular infant teething toy sold exclusively on Amazon has been urgently recalled after reports that nearly three dozen children have choked on the device.

The Yetonamr Pull String Teething Toy, sold between June and October 2025, poses a severe suffocation risk. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the toy’s silicone strings are longer than permitted by the federal toy safety standard (ASTM F963). These “tentacles” can reach too far into an infant’s mouth and throat, creating an airway obstruction hazard.

A High Failure Rate

The statistical data regarding this recall is alarming. Out of approximately 6,800 units sold, the CPSC has already received 32 confirmed reports of choking. This represents a reported failure rate of roughly 1 in every 212 units, a significantly higher frequency than typical toy recalls, which often occur after isolated events.

Like many products sold on online marketplaces, the manufacturer is a foreign entity with little U.S. presence. The importer is listed as Longyan Xinluo District Guiheng E-Commerce Co. Ltd. (doing business as “Longyanguiheng”), based in China.

For American parents, this creates a “ghost defendant.” Foreign manufacturers are often difficult to serve with legal papers and may have no U.S. assets to compensate a family if a child suffers hypoxic injury or asphyxiation.

Why California Parents May Have Special Recourse

While many states struggle to hold online marketplaces accountable, California courts have been distinct leaders in consumer protection. Under landmark legal precedents (such as Bolger v. Amazon.com), California has increasingly moved to hold online marketplaces strictly liable for defects in products they store and ship, similar to traditional retailers.

If you are a California resident and your child suffered a choking injury requiring medical intervention, the legal pathway for compensation may involve the marketplace that facilitated the sale, rather than just the foreign manufacturer.

Consumer Action Guide

  • Stop Using Immediately: Remove the toy from the child’s environment instantly.
  • Verify the Product: The recall covers “Yetonamr” brand pull-string toys, Model no. 688-59. They are off-white discs with red or blue balls and silicone strings.
  • The Remedy: The CPSC advises consumers to cut the silicone strings, mark the body “DESTROYED,” and email a photo to yetonamr_recall@163.com for a refund.
  • Preserve Evidence: If your child was injured, DO NOT destroy the product. Keep the toy, the packaging, and all medical records, as these are critical for establishing a product liability claim.
