When applying for a job, you may be required to submit to a criminal background check, this is standard procedure, but many people do not realize why they are being subjected to this check. In that case, this could lead them to believe that you are immature and irresponsible even though most teenage arrests never repeat offenders, and most small-time drug dealers grow out of their dealing habits as they mature into adults.
5) Even with all these precautions, an employer can be held liable if they hire someone with a background of irresponsible behavior and something goes wrong on the job. They may have to pay large sums of money to defend themselves against your legal action.
From their point of view, this is simply part of doing business. It can help them save time by eliminating potentially unsuitable applicants from consideration, saving everybody some trouble and money. It is also a way for the company to protect itself from risk.
