Celsius Energy Drink Agrees to $5 Million Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

Energy drink giant Celsius has agreed to pay $5 million to settle a class action lawsuit over false advertising claims. The lawsuit, which was filed in 2019, accused the company of making false and misleading statements regarding the health benefits of its products.

According to the class action complaint, Celsius claimed that its drinks could boost metabolism and help burn body fat, leading to weight loss. The plaintiffs argued that these claims were not supported by scientific evidence and that Celsius failed to disclose potential health risks associated with consuming energy drinks.

The class action settlement funds will compensate eligible consumers who purchased Celsius products between January 1, 2013, and August 31, 2021.

Claimants can receive up to $250.00 per household

Under the terms of the settlement, Celsius has agreed to make specific changes to its labeling and advertising practices, including using specific language to describe the benefits of its products. The company will also be required to provide more transparent information about its drinks’ ingredients and potential side effects.

Consumers eligible for compensation under the class action settlement can file a claim online or by mail. The deadline to file a claim is May 3, 2023.

This settlement marks a significant development in the ongoing debate over the safety and efficacy of energy drinks. It serves as a reminder that companies must be transparent and responsible in their advertising practices, especially when it comes to products that have the potential to impact public health.
